一、英语状语从句的句型结构转换

我们来看看一些状语是如何在中文里表达的：
1. He stole, not because he wanted the money but because he liked stealing.
如果我们直接采用英语的状语从句结构，就会译成：
他 *** ，不是因为钱，而是因为他喜欢偷。
他 *** 的目的不是钱，他就是喜欢偷。
译者把原文的原因状语从句because…转换成了名词"目的"，彻底避免了状语从句结构。
2. The days were short, for it was now December.
本句表示原因的状语从句for…并没有一个用"因为"的连线词。很多原文用连线词的状语从句在中文里常常可以省略连线词。
